If, like many of us, you've yet to host a barbecue or spend some quality time in your garden this summer and suddenly the weekend is upon you and you've realized your back yard is in no state to entertain, read today's blog to learn some quick and easy ways to spruce up your garden. From adding some color to washing the floor, there are so many things you can do to give your space a nice refresh for the summer.
1. Rearrange the furniture
If you have a wooden bench or a table and chairs set in your garden, try moving them around to another area. Much like rearranging your bedroom when you're in need of a change, this will instantly give your garden a fresh vibe and make it feel as though you've added brand new furnishings.
2. Add a new lick of paint
Whether it's a new feature wall or filling in the chipped spots on your fence, adding a fresh coat of paint to furniture or areas of your garden can help breathe some new life into it. Painting your tables and chairs in lovely pastel tones can instantly make it feel like summer and won't take up much of your day at all!
3. Hang a weatherproof mirror
Mirrors are a great way to create the illusion of space in smaller gardens and will give guests something to admire other than a dark corner full of cobwebs. You may have to splurge a little to ensure you get the best quality outdoor mirror that can withstand rain and hot temperatures, but it will be worth it when you sit and enjoy the new sense of calm and tranquility your updated space brings.
4. Give your lawn some new life
If you have grass in your back garden, remember to maintain it just as much as you would your front lawn, even if it's not on display for anyone but yourself! This includes watering, mowing, fertilizing and weeding. If you don't have a lawn, why not purchase some artificial grass for your garden? It's an easy way to add a natural feel to what might be an otherwise modern space.
5. Plant some flowers
You may already have a sweet set of blooms, but you can never have too many! Treat yourself (and the bees) to some fresh flowers in different tones to create a new color scheme for your garden and fall in love with the space all over again.
6. Go even greener
If maintaining your flowers and plants has become too much of a chore and you can no longer face the daily watering routine, why not give your garden a Mexican twist with a collection of succulents or cacti. The new theme will give it a fresh feel and although you'll have less colorful flowers, you'll still make all those who visit green with envy!
7. Clean the floor
When was the last time you did some weeding or gave your decking/ paving a scrub? Getting a pressure washer to clean the surface will not only bring your patio back to life, but completely revitalize your whole garden with minimum effort.
