What is a certified B Corporation?
B Corps (Better Corporations) are a community of organisations aiming to demonstrate their positive impact on people and the planet as well as profit.
What does being a B Corp mean to us?
Since JoJo launched in 1993, we have always valued our people and championed environmental practices alongside profit. Becoming a B Corp in 2016 means we can cement this business ethos and continue to run as a force for good.
B stands for ‘Better’
As part of our pledge to put people and the planet above profit, we are committed to being a Better Corporation, this means being…
As a company, we believe in putting our loyal teams first. We celebrate diversity across all aspects of the business and are proud to partner with WorkFit, a Down’s Syndrome employment programme. We also support our teams with workplace benefits, bite-sized training courses and Mental Health First Aiders.
The stores are designed to be parent-friendly, so you can breastfeed or bottle feed, change nappies, refill your water bottle, or just chat. From potty training to sustainable life hacks, we offer digital toolkits, buying guides, and helpful content online.
Our environmental projects, such as planting thousands of trees in the JoJo Forever Forest, and funding schemes alongside our suppliers around the world, help us to more than balance our operational carbon footprint. We also promote wooden toys over plastic and use fabrics made from recycled plastic bottles, to name just a few things we do.
Our stores are part of the communities around them and we support thousands of local charities through gift voucher donations. Our employees are also encouraged to volunteer in their local communities through our Volunteer Day Program.
Through our donation programme, From a Mother to Another, thousands of families have been able to pick up emergency clothing gift packs from baby banks. Since we launched in 2015, we have saved an estimated 70 tonnes of unwanted or outgrown clothing from landfill, and donated to those in need.
Early in 2022, we launched Helping Hands, a programme that offers cash grants to charities, not-for-profits and community projects near our stores.
We are loyal to our suppliers and help them grow their businesses in an ethical and honest way. We are proud to be supporting Better Cotton, which exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, the environment it grows in and the sector’s future, backing Eco-viscose for its sustainable benefits, working with FSC®-certified wood to ensure our forests are protected and using recycled fibres to remove plastic from landfill wherever we can. Closer to home we are championing our fellow B Corps as part of our Environmental and Ethical purchasing policy.
